Trouble Nation — The History
Downtown · Tootie Montana Lineage

Trouble Nation is a New Orleans Black Masking Indian tribe whose founder came up in the tradition from a young age, learning to sew beadwork at the side of the legendary Big Chief Allison “Tootie” Montana of the Yellow Pocahontas.
The tribe is closely tied to the city’s social aid and pleasure club culture, and its members carry forward the discipline, artistry, and pride passed down through generations.
On Mardi Gras morning, St. Joseph’s Night, and Super Sunday, Trouble Nation takes to the streets in hand-sewn suits, keeping the tradition alive for the next generation.
