GoGo Brass Funk.
The Brass-A-Holics were founded in 2010 by trombonist Winston Turner — a veteran of the St. Augustine Marching 100, the Pinstripes, and over a dozen years with the Soul Rebels. His idea: fuse the New Orleans brass sound with Washington D.C.’s go-go groove and the 80s pop he grew up on.
Turner calls it “GoGo Brass Funk,” and the eight-piece runs from the latest pop hits to traditional jazz to D.C. go-go in a single set. They’ve shared stages with Allen Toussaint, Trombone Shorty, Public Enemy, and the Black Keys.
