About
Charlene Larche-Mason serves on the New Orleans Municipal & Traffic Court, Division C, hearing municipal ordinance violations and traffic matters. A former Chief Deputy City Attorney who led the city’s traffic and municipal prosecution team from 2008 to 2020, she assumed office in August 2020. She is the first woman elected to preside over traffic matters in New Orleans history.

Step 1 — Check that you are registered

Step 2 — Make sure you have photo ID
A Louisiana driver’s license, state ID, LA Wallet digital license, or military ID all work.
No photo ID? Right now you can still vote — ask the poll worker for the Voter Identification Affidavit. That option ends July 1, 2027. If you are a registered voter, the Louisiana state ID card is free. Bring your voter information card to any OMV.

Step 3 — Know your deadlines
Register online: 20 days before election day.
Register by mail or in person: 30 days before election day — the earlier deadline, do not wait.
Election dates change every cycle. The official calendar always shows current dates.
Step 4 — Check your party registration
New in 2026: U.S. Senate, U.S. House, Louisiana Supreme Court, and Public Service Commission now use closed party primaries. You only get candidates from your own registered party. Registered with no party and those races may not appear on your primary ballot at all.
Mayor, District Attorney, Sheriff, City Council, School Board, and judges are not affected — everyone votes for everyone.
Step 5 — See what is on your ballot
Your ballot depends on your address. Look it up before you go so you are not deciding in the booth.
Step 6 — Voting spots
On election day you must go to your own assigned polling place, which depends on your address and can change between elections. Look it up first.
During early voting you can use any of the four sites below, no matter where in the parish you live. No excuse needed. Open 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM, closed Sundays.
