Joie de Vivre.
The VIP Ladies & Kids have been an Uptown fixture since 2003, and 2026 marks their 23rd anniversary parade. More than a second line club, the VIP Ladies run as a community nonprofit — “Life Long Contributors” who put on cultural programs, support services, and opportunities for the neighborhood year-round.
Their theme says it all: Joie de Vivre — the joy of living. Rolling behind the Alumni Stooges and Sporty’s brass bands, the Ladies and Kids parade from Tracey’s in the Irish Channel across Uptown. The 2026 parade is dedicated to their dearly departed Maryann Thompson — fly high, Queen.
