Established 2004 · Uptown New Orleans

It Ends Uptown.

The Original Uptown Swingers rolled for the first time in 2004, but the roots run generations deeper. The founder came up in the culture as a kid, marching with the Young Men Olympian Junior Benevolent Association — one of the oldest Black benevolent societies in New Orleans — before branching off to start a division of his own. What began as a single parade past a family member’s front porch grew into one of Uptown’s most anticipated Sundays.

Tight-knit and family-first, the Swingers close out the New Orleans second line season every June. When the brass band steps off, Uptown turns out — good music, good food, and thousands of dancers filling the streets from Cadiz to Claiborne.

“Leave all the BS and drama at your house — we come to have a good time.”
