The Parade
The Tremé Sidewalk Steppers roll in early February, one of the first second lines of the year, through Tremé and the 6th Ward. The exact route is released before the parade.
Founded in 1994 in the oldest African American neighborhood in the country, the Steppers carry the brass band tradition that Tremé gave the world.

The Tremé Sidewalk Steppers launched in 1994, part of the wave of new clubs that revived the second-line tradition through the 1990s. They come straight out of Tremé — the oldest Black neighborhood in America and the beating heart of the city’s brass band culture.
The Steppers open their season early each February, one of the first big rolls of the year, filling the Tremé and 6th Ward streets with footwork behind a brass band.
