The Parade

Sudan rolls each November through the 7th Ward, stepping off around N. Robertson St. The exact route is released before the parade.

Most of Sudan’s founding members came up through the Bucketmen, the second line of the Tambourine and Fan sports club — a lineage that ties Sudan straight to the heart of the culture.

Straight Out the 7th Ward.

Sudan was founded in 1983 by David Crowden, Adrian Gaddies, and Bernard Robertson — most of them coming out of the Bucketmen, the second line tied to the Tambourine and Fan sports group. From the start the club planted its flag in the 7th Ward, around N. Robertson.

One of the standout clubs of the 1980s second-line resurgence, Sudan rolls each November, filling the downtown streets with sharp suits, parasols, and footwork behind a brass band.

The 7th Ward’s finest.
