The roll finishes back in the neighborhood at the Rock Bottom Lounge. The exact route is released before each parade.
Established 1928 · Uptown 12th Ward
One of the Oldest.
Prince of Wales is one of the oldest social aid and pleasure clubs in New Orleans, formed in 1928 in the 12th Ward by riverfront stevedores and railroad men. The name may come from the members’ shared taste for J&B scotch — whose label salutes the Prince of Wales — or from a royal visit to the city in the late 1920s.
What began as a mutual-aid society is now built around one thing: the annual second line. Every fall the club rolls through its Uptown neighborhood, crosses St. Charles into Central City, and circles home to the Rock Bottom Lounge.
