Rooted in Treme.
The Money Wasters are one of Treme’s enduring second line clubs, rooted in the oldest Black neighborhood in America. For years they stepped off from the Charbonnet Funeral Home at St. Philip and N. Claiborne before moving the start to the Treme Center on N. Villere.
Led for many years by president Nelson Thompson — who masked with the White Eagles from the age of ten — and his brother Cornell “Peanuckle” Thompson, the club carries deep Treme roots. Their Sunday roll winds up Orleans and Broad through the heart of the 6th Ward and lands at Tuba Fats Square.
Treme born, Treme raised.
