Named for the question mark the founders painted on bricks to represent the Desire Project — a logo before they ever had a name.

A Name in Question.
The ? Mark club got its name the hard way — they didn’t have one. Meeting up at the Fountain of Youth on St. Roch Ave., the members had a logo but no name, and a Nine Times dance to get to. So they put a question mark on some bricks to stand for the Desire Project, and the ? Mark was born.
The club came up in the orbit of Nine Times and the 9th Ward, and today rolls with the Dumaine Gang — after president Byron Hogans invited them in at a King and Queen party at the Carver Theater.
