The Parade
Nine Times rolls the Sunday before Thanksgiving through the Ninth Ward. The exact route is released before the parade.
Founded by men who grew up in the Desire Public Housing Development, Nine Times was one of the first second line clubs in the Ninth Ward — and their story became the book “Coming Out the Door for the Ninth Ward.”

Nine Times has paraded through the Ninth Ward on the Sunday before Thanksgiving since 1998 — one of the first second line clubs to come out of the Desire Public Housing Development, where many of its members grew up.
As the city demolished Desire in the late 1990s, Nine Times took to the streets to keep the neighborhood together. The members even wrote a book — Coming Out the Door for the Ninth Ward — about their lives and the club. As they put it: “We’re brothers of the Ninth Ward when we parade. The whole Ninth Ward.”
