About the School
Edna Karr opened in 1964 as a junior high in Algiers and was named for a beloved local educator. It became a junior/senior magnet in 1990 and graduated its first senior class in 1993. Today it is a college-prep charter under InspireNOLA.
The Cougars are known citywide for championship football and a celebrated marching band, “#TeamBustEmUp,” which has performed in London and appeared in Beyoncé’s Lemonade.
