Republican state senator representing District 22, which covers all of Bosque, Comanche, Eastland, Erath, Hamilton, Hill, Hood, McLennan and Somervell counties plus portions of Ellis and Tarrant counties. Birdwell, a retired Army officer, has held the seat since 2010.
