Naya Young is the Tampa City Council, District 5. City Council writes and votes on Tampa’s ordinances, approves the city budget and sets property tax rates, and signs off on big contracts, rezonings and development deals. This is a single-member district seat, so only voters living in District 5 elect it and this member is the main City Hall contact for that part of town.

Won an October 28, 2025 special runoff after Council member Gwen Henderson died in June 2025. She is filling out Henderson’s unexpired term, which ends with the rest of the council in 2027.
