Nathan A. Kilton is the Mayor of Plant City (Mayor-Commissioner, Group 1). Plant City’s mayor chairs the City Commission and represents the city publicly, voting with the other four commissioners on the budget, ordinances and land use. A hired city manager runs the departments, so the job is closer to a council chair than to a big-city strong mayor.

Voters do not elect the mayor directly. All five Plant City commissioners are elected at large, and at the first regular meeting each June the commission picks one of its own members as Mayor-Commissioner. Jason M. Jones is currently Vice-Mayor.
