Chris Scherer is the Pinellas County Commissioner, District 1 (At-Large). County commissioners set the county property tax rate, pass the county budget and write ordinances covering unincorporated Pinellas and countywide services like transit, the jail budget, beach renourishment and tourist-tax spending. District 1 is an at-large seat, meaning he lives in District 1 but is elected by voters countywide.
