Circuit judges in the Sixth Circuit handle felonies, larger civil lawsuits, divorce and child custody, probate and guardianship, juvenile matters, and appeals from county court. County judges handle misdemeanors, traffic and DUI, evictions and landlord-tenant disputes and small civil claims, and they are the judges most Pinellas residents will ever see in person.
Circuit judges and county court judges serve six-year terms that begin on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in January following the general election. Seats whose terms expire in January 2027 are on the ballot November 3, 2026.

Nonpartisan races open to every registered voter regardless of party. Decided at the August 18, 2026 primary if a candidate wins a majority; otherwise the top two go to the November 3, 2026 general election. Because the Sixth Circuit spans two counties, circuit judge races are voted on by Pinellas AND Pasco voters, while county judge races are voted on only within the judge’s own county.
