Darryl Rouson is the Florida Senate, District 16. A state senator is one of 40 members of the Florida Senate, the upper chamber of the Legislature that writes state law and passes the state budget each spring in Tallahassee. Senators also confirm the Governor’s appointments and decide the rules on schools, property insurance, health care, roads and taxes for the area they represent.
Term ending November 2026, on the ballot November 3, 2026
Notes
Covers parts of Pinellas and Hillsborough counties, including St. Petersburg and parts of Tampa. Rouson is leaving the seat after eight years and did not file for another office, so District 16 is an open seat with a contested primary that appeared on both the Pinellas and Hillsborough ballots in August 2026.
