Royal Theater

Opened in 1948, the Royal was one of only two movie houses serving African Americans in segregated St. Petersburg and the cultural anchor of The Deuces. It hosted first-run films and live stage performances.

Visitor Info

Restored and reopened in 2004, the building now operates as the Boys and Girls Club Royal Theater with an auditorium, arts studios and a recording studio. It is listed on the St. Petersburg Register of Historic Places.
