King of the Parade
To Be Crowned
The crown goes where the work went — the member who drove the van, paid the dues, and showed up all year. The club announces its King on its own time.

The Parade
Rolling for Generations
It can’t be missed.
New Orleans’ social aid & pleasure clubs take the street the way they take care of their own — quietly all year, gloriously for one Sunday. The route is a memory map: the barrooms that sponsored them, the corners that raised them, the blocks where everybody on a porch knows somebody in the line.
Aid came first — dues for the sick and the burying, coverage the insurance men wouldn’t sell. The pleasure comes Sunday: the brass band, the club in its colors, and the whole neighborhood — the second line — dancing behind. Wear shoes you mean. The club doesn’t parade past its neighborhood; it parades for it.

The Royalty
The club crowns its court close to the Sunday — names and portraits appear here the moment the club announces.

Queen of the Parade
Her sash is sewn before her name is spoken. When the club crowns its Queen, her portrait and her story take this spot — and the whole route bows.

Get there early if you want to see the club come out the door. Street parking thins fast; the neutral ground fills faster. The parade closes the loop where it opened.

Final word, morning of the parade
Routes can shift with the NOPD permit. The club’s official route sheet — handed out the morning of the parade and posted here — is the last word. Bring water, tip the bands, respect the ropes.

Chauffeured black-car service for the whole Sunday — and yes, you can book her for the parade itself. Put your King, Queen, and Grand Marshal in the back of something beautiful and let the court roll the route the way they deserve.
