Housed in the former George Washington Carver High School, this is Phoenix’s flagship African American history museum. The building operated from 1926 to 1954 as the city’s only segregated high school for Black students before being restored.

Visitors see galleries on Black Arizona history, the segregated-school era and rotating exhibits, plus an auditorium and gymnasium. The museum is generally open on weekdays, and tours are available during open hours or by appointment.
