Lincoln Theatre

Opened in 1926, the Lincoln Theatre was the grandest venue on Central Avenue and the anchor of the district’s Black entertainment scene, earning the nickname the West Coast Apollo. It showcased premier Black performers of the jazz and vaudeville eras.

Visitor Info

The Spanish Churrigueresque-style building is a designated LA Historic-Cultural Monument and now houses a church congregation. Its landmark facade is a highlight of the Central Avenue jazz corridor.
