Leimert Park is widely regarded as the cultural heart of Black Los Angeles, a walkable village of galleries, jazz and drum-circle traditions, bookstores and Afrocentric shops. Championed by artists and community leaders since the 1960s, it is often called the Black cultural mecca of the West Coast.

Visitors experience the village plaza, the historic Vision Theatre, art galleries, the World Stage performance space, drum circles and vendors, especially lively during Juneteenth and Kwanzaa. It is served by the Metro K Line’s Leimert Park station.
