Black history landmark in Inglewood, California
A 200-acre cemetery founded in 1905 that holds an extraordinary concentration of Black American musical and athletic history within walking distance of SoFi Stadium. Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James and Billy Preston are all buried here, as are Sugar Ray Robinson, Dodgers infielder Jim Gilliam and attorney Johnnie Cochran. The 1907 white granite chapel still stands. The grounds are open to visitors and the office can point you toward specific graves.
