Black public art site in Los Angeles, California
The intersection of Slauson and Crenshaw, renamed by the Los Angeles City Council on the day of Nipsey Hussle's 2019 funeral, and the site of the Marathon Clothing store he opened in June 2017 and of the strip mall he bought the year before he was killed. More than 50 murals of him were painted across Los Angeles within months of his death, several of them in the alley and on the walls around this corner. The store has remained closed since 2019, but the corner is an active pilgrimage site and Hussle helped shape Destination Crenshaw in its planning stages.
