The Wild Tchoupitoulas were formed in the early 1970s by George "Big Chief Jolly" Landry, uncle of the Neville Brothers, in the 13th Ward Uptown. Their self-titled 1976 album, produced by Allen Toussaint with the Meters as the band and the Nevilles on vocals, brought Indian chants like "Meet de Boys on the Battlefront" and "Brother John" to a worldwide audience and was added to the Library of Congress National Recording Registry.
