Black Feather was founded in 1992 by Big Chief Lionel Delpit (1957-2011), who had previously masked with the Yellow Pocahontas and was known for elaborate three-dimensional suits, dancing and singing. Delpit performed at Jazz Fest and abroad and appeared in HBO's Treme before his death in July 2011. Big Chief Corey Rayford now leads the tribe and has continued to sew despite a degenerative eye condition. Founded: 1992 Side: Downtown
