About Wanderstay Houston Hostel
Wanderstay Houston Hostel is a social hostel near the Museum District, opened in August 2018 by Deidre Mathis, a solo traveler who has stayed in dozens of hostels abroad. It has been reported as the first Black-owned hostel in the U.S.
Rooms carry Houston themes, including a Beyonce-inspired 'I Woke Up Like This' room, and the property now offers four private rooms plus co-ed and female dorms for up to 27 guests. Mathis funded it partly through an SBA loan and an Indiegogo campaign, and later opened Wanderstay Boutique Hotel in EaDo. Book on the website or call 281-501-9610.
