Midway Broadcasting Corporation is the Black owned Chicago company behind WVON 1690, The Talk of Chicago. Founded by radio legends Pervis Spann and Wesley South, it has been chaired since 1999 by Spann daughter Melody Spann-Cooper, one of the few Black women to control a broadcast company in the United States.

WVON is the most influential Black talk and news station in America, central to the civil rights era and to the early rise of Barack Obama. Midway programs and operates WVON 1690 AM, owns Spanish language WRLL 1450 AM in Cicero, and launched the VON TV streaming service in 2020. The WVON call letters date to 1963, when the station was founded by Chess Records as the Voice of the Negro.
