WHUR 96.3 FM is the flagship of the Howard University Radio Network, owned and operated by Howard University in Washington, D.C. On the air since 1971, it is the largest and most commercially successful HBCU owned commercial radio station in the country and a direct product of the push for Black media ownership that followed the Kerner Commission.

WHUR broadcasts urban adult contemporary programming to a signal stretching from Baltimore to outside Richmond, reaching nearly half a million listeners daily. It is the birthplace of the Quiet Storm format that reshaped Urban AC radio nationwide, and carries The Steve Harvey Morning Show. HD channels include WHUR-WORLD, student run WHBC and DC Radio, and the network produces HUR Voices and HBCU RadioNet for SiriusXM.
