The Africa Channel is a cable and streaming network founded in 2005 by Zimbabwean born broadcaster James Makawa, its co-founder and CEO. Headquartered in North Hollywood, California, it is the longest running independent minority owned media company built around pan African content for North American audiences.
Services
The network carries English language series, films, documentaries, music and lifestyle programming from across the African continent, reaching roughly seven million homes through Comcast Xfinity, Charter Spectrum and Cox in major metros plus Caribbean territories. It also operates the Demand Africa streaming service, TAC Studios for original production and TAC Labs, connecting African and African American audiences through shared storytelling.
