Carter Broadcast Group is the oldest continuously Black owned and family operated broadcasting company in the United States. Founded in Kansas City in 1950 by Andrew Skip Carter, it is now led by his grandson, president and CEO Michael L. Carter, making it a third generation family business with more than 75 years on the air.
Services
The group operates KPRS 103.3 Hot 103 Jamz, a perennial ratings leader in Kansas City and the first Black radio station west of the Mississippi, gospel station KPRT 1590 AM and 106.1 FM, and urban adult contemporary RNB 106.9. The company has earned multiple Marconi Awards and the NAB Crystal Radio Award for community service, and also runs LiftOff Interactive, its digital marketing agency.
