The Black Public Radio Network is a national public media collaborative launched in June 2026 and based in Houston. It was founded by Ernest Walker, general manager of Texas Southern University station KTSU, who serves as president. It is the most significant new Black radio institution in a generation.
Services
BPRN launched with 15 founding member stations across 13 states, twelve of them licensed to historically Black colleges and universities, including KTSU and The VIBE in Houston, KPVU at Prairie View, WBGO in Newark, WCLK in Atlanta, WEAA in Baltimore, WNCU in Durham, HYFIN in Milwaukee, KJLU, WRVS, WSSB, WURC, WESM, WJAB, WNSB and The Drop in Denver. The network builds shared underwriting revenue, audience research and programming for Black public radio.
