The Cozad-Bates House is University Circle’s oldest surviving pre-Civil War residence and now serves as an interpretive center on Cleveland’s antislavery and Underground Railroad history. The surrounding area was a hotbed of abolitionist activity.

Visitors explore free exhibits on the Underground Railroad and Northeast Ohio’s role in the freedom movement. General hours are Saturdays from noon to 4 pm, with private tours by request and free admission.
