Illinois Appellate Court — First District

The First District Appellate Court, based in Chicago, hears appeals from the Circuit Court of Cook County — the middle tier between the trial court and the Supreme Court. It has 18 elected judgeships (about two dozen seats once temporary assignments are counted). Because of its size, individual justices are listed on the court’s official roster rather than here.
