Tom Dart has led one of the nation's largest sheriff's offices since 2006, overseeing the Cook County Jail and courthouse security. A former Illinois state legislator and Cook County prosecutor, he drew national attention for halting foreclosure evictions during the 2008 financial crisis and for mental health programming in the jail.
