Formed in 1983 in Tremé by brothers Philip and Keith Frazier, Kermit Ruffins and classmates from Joseph S. Clark Senior High School. The band fused traditional brass band repertoire with funk, R&B and hip-hop, and its songs 'Do Whatcha Wanna' and 'Feel Like Funkin' It Up' became second-line standards. Rebirth won the inaugural Grammy for Best Regional Roots Music Album in 2012 for 'Rebirth of New Orleans' and has held a Tuesday-night residency at the Maple Leaf Bar for decades.
