Led by snare drummer Jenard Andrews, son of James Andrews and nephew of Trombone Shorty, New Breed grew out of a high-school project called the Baby Boys and made its street debut in November 2013. Their Trombone Shorty-produced debut 'Made in New Orleans' (2023) and 'Live at the 2024 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival' were each nominated for the Grammy for Best Regional Roots Music Album, and 'Second Line Sunday' (2025), a collaboration with Trombone Shorty released on the 20th anniversary of Katrina, earned a third nomination.
