Hurricane Brass Band New Orleans Brass Band

Trumpeter Leroy Jones formed the Hurricane Brass Band in 1974 out of the Fairview Baptist Church Marching Band, the youth band organized by Danny Barker. The Hurricane trained a generation of players, including Gregory Davis, and after Jones left, Darryl Adams renamed it the Tornado Brass Band, from which the Dirty Dozen Brass Band emerged in 1977. Jones later revived the name as Leroy Jones' Original Hurricane Brass Band. Founded: 1974
