Formed in 1977 out of the Tornado Brass Band by drummer Benny Jones with trumpeter Gregory Davis, sousaphonist Kirk Joseph, trombonist Charles Joseph and saxophonist Kevin Harris. The band modernized the New Orleans brass band by adding bebop, funk and R&B to the repertoire, starting with 'My Feet Can't Fail Me Now' (1984). It has recorded with Elvis Costello, Dizzy Gillespie and Widespread Panic, and shared a Grammy for Best American Roots Performance in 2023 for 'Stompin' Ground' with Aaron Neville. Founded: 1977
