Steven W. Tompkins

The elected Sheriff runs the county’s jails, the Suffolk County House of Correction and the Nashua Street Jail, overseeing staff responsible for people serving short sentences or awaiting trial, plus reentry programs and the Civil Process Division that serves court papers. Tompkins was first appointed in January 2013 and has since been elected to the post.
