Ronald J. Mariano

As Speaker he presides over the 160-seat Massachusetts House, controls which bills come to the floor, appoints committee chairs, and negotiates the final state budget with the Senate President and Governor. His own district is Quincy and Holbrook, not Boston, but no Boston legislation passes the House without him.
