Allison S. Cartwright

This elected clerk manages the single-justice docket of the state’s highest court: petitions asking one SJC justice to review lower-court rulings, plus bail review, bar admission and attorney discipline matters. Cartwright was elected in November 2024 and sworn in January 1, 2025, and is the second woman and first Black person to hold the office since it was created in 1693.
