Oddusee Atlanta

Booker T. Washington High School

Opened in 1924 as the first public high school for African American students in the state of Georgia. Its most famous graduate is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who attended before entering Morehouse at 15.

Visitor Info

The school remains an operating Atlanta Public Schools campus and a Georgia Historical Society-marked landmark, with a statue of Booker T. Washington at the entrance. The grounds and exterior are viewable by the public.
