Kandi Burruss is a singer, songwriter and producer based in College Park who performs with the R&B group Xscape. In 2000 she became the first African-American woman to win ASCAP's Songwriter of the Year award. She has also moved into Broadway, joining the cast of & Juliet in December 2025 and the production team for Othello in 2025.
