Heavy’s began as a soul food truck and catering operation in St. Petersburg before opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant and takeout counter on 22nd Street South in the historic Deuces corridor in January 2022. The kitchen serves fried pork chops, oxtail, chitterlings, turkey wings, shrimp and oven-baked barbecue chicken, each plate with three sides such as collard greens, yams, potato salad and macaroni and cheese, plus cobblers and banana pudding.
