Newtown Alive documents and interprets the history of Newtown, Sarasota’s historic Black neighborhood, through historic markers, oral histories and guided trolley and bus tours. It is a program of the Sarasota African American Cultural Coalition, which is based in the relocated Leonard Reid House on North Orange Avenue. Tours run year-round by reservation.
