About Cupcake Kitchen
Cupcake Kitchen is a bakery and soul food kitchen on Southmore Boulevard in Houston, turning out cupcakes, cakes, cookies and plated dinners.
Owner Patrice Farooq opened the business in September 2014 after picking up baking about a year earlier, testing recipes on family and friends before going professional. The shop has since expanded its space twice. It is known for buttercream and cream cheese frostings and its banana pudding, with cupcake flavors ranging from red velvet and carrot cake to butter pecan and cookies and cream. A seafood and soul food menu adds dishes like salmon, shrimp, mac and cheese and gumbo.
Custom cakes can be ordered for events, and pickup and delivery are available through online ordering apps.
