NBA All-Star 2027 is coming to Phoenix — Friday, February 19 through Sunday, February 21, 2027 — and it lands in the last week of Black History Month.<\/strong> Three days, one downtown arena, and somewhere north of a hundred thousand visitors with money in their pocket looking for somewhere to eat, drink, dance and sleep.<\/p>

Oddusee Phoenix built this guide for one reason: so that money has somewhere Black to land. Every business below is a real, currently operating Valley business, and we tell you plainly which ones are confirmed Black-owned<\/em> and which are simply the rooms where the culture shows up. We don’t blur that line. You deserve to know where your dollar is actually going.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The games run out of the Suns’ downtown building, now called Mortgage Matchup Center<\/strong> — the room you may still know as Footprint Center, and before that PHX Arena, US Airways Center and America West. It sits at 201 E. Jefferson Street, Phoenix, AZ 85004<\/strong>, right in the middle of downtown.<\/p>

  • Friday, Feb. 19<\/strong> — Rising Stars<\/li>
  • Saturday, Feb. 20<\/strong> — All-Star Saturday Night: Skills Challenge, 3-Point Contest, Slam Dunk<\/li>
  • Sunday, Feb. 21<\/strong> — the 76th NBA All-Star Game<\/li>
  • All weekend<\/strong> — All-Star Practice, the Celebrity Game, NBA Crossover fan fest and NBA Cares events at venues around the city. The league has not confirmed venues yet; expect the fan fest downtown, most likely at the Phoenix Convention Center.<\/li><\/ul>

    This is Phoenix’s fourth All-Star — 1975, 1995, 2009, and now 2027 — and the first since the light rail changed how you move through this city. Party programming starts early: local organizers have already announced a “Welcome to the Valley” kickoff on Thursday, Feb. 18<\/strong>, so plan for a four-night weekend, not a three-night one.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Getting Around Without A Car<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
    \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

    Fly into Sky Harbor, ride the free PHX Sky Train<\/strong> (runs 24 hours) to 44th St\/Washington, catch the Valley Metro A Line<\/strong> westbound, and get off at 3rd St\/Jefferson<\/strong>. You’re about a third of a mile from the arena door. Trains run roughly every 15–20 minutes, later on Friday and Saturday nights, and the daily fare tops out around four dollars — check valleymetro.org before you travel. A cab from the airport downtown usually runs $15–20.<\/p>

    Late February in Phoenix is the good season: highs around 71°F, lows around 49°F. Shirt sleeves at noon, a jacket by 8pm. Don’t get caught slipping on the night air.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    Phoenix’s Black nightlife is spread out the way Black Phoenix itself is spread out — downtown, midtown, the West Valley, Tempe, Chandler, Mesa. These are the confirmed Black-owned rooms, starting with the ones you can walk or take one train stop to from the arena.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

        These rooms are where the culture goes, but they are not<\/strong> Black-owned, and we’re not going to tell you they are. Go, enjoy yourself, and know the difference: The Womack<\/strong> (5749 N. 7th St., live soul and funk four nights a week), Samsara Restaurant & Lounge<\/strong> (901 N. 4th St., hookah, R&B and spades), Oasis Old Town<\/strong> (4441 N. Buckboard Trail, Scottsdale), Pretty Please Lounge<\/strong> (4426 N. Saddlebag Trail, Scottsdale), and Blue Martini<\/strong> at Desert Ridge, where Rock and Soul Sundays is the night.         All-Star weekend is a promoter’s weekend. The venue matters less than who has the room that night — so here are both.<\/p>

        • 11:11 Nightclub<\/strong> — 4280 N. Drinkwater Blvd., Unit 100, Old Town Scottsdale. Hip-hop, R&B and dancehall in the former INTL space, reported as Black-owned and the most celebrity-heavy Black room in Scottsdale. Dress up. (480) 213-9500<\/li>
        • Legacy Lounge \/ Snkrheadz<\/strong> — 3002 N. Arizona Ave., Chandler. Black-owned late-night room with DJs and a dance floor, open to 2am. Call ahead: the room has been operating under both names.<\/li>
        • Walter Where?House<\/strong> — 702 N. 21st Ave. The big industrial event space that hosts The Family Reunion, Arizona’s largest Juneteenth event. If somebody throws a proper Black day party at scale during All-Star, expect it here.<\/li>
        • Coopertreez Marketing Group<\/strong> — the Valley’s most visible Black hip-hop, R&B and Afrobeats promoter. Runs Spinroom Saturdays downtown and has been rebuilding its Sunday day party since Bar Smith closed in early 2026. Follow @coopertreez before you book anything.<\/li>
        • Ocho Rios’ party calendar<\/strong> — the most reliable weekly Caribbean rotation in the metro. Rum Punch & Brunch on Sundays, Reverse Brunch Saturdays in Goodyear, Fridayz After Work.<\/li>
        • Poetic Soul<\/strong> — Wednesdays at 309 Sports Lounge, Mesa. Spoken word, singers and comedians with a live house band. One of the longest-running soulful nights in the Valley.<\/li>
        • R&B Only Live<\/strong> — the national touring R&B party that regularly stops at The Van Buren, 401 W. Van Buren St. Watch their calendar for an All-Star date.<\/li><\/ul>

          A note on closures:<\/strong> Bar Smith and Monarch Theatre, two downtown clubs that hosted a lot of Black nightlife, both closed in February 2026. If an out-of-date list sends you to 130 or 122 E. Washington, that room is gone.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

          Gentlemen's Clubs: What's Real In The Valley<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

          Let’s be straight with you, because nobody else will be: we could not confirm a single Black-owned gentlemen’s club in metro Phoenix.<\/strong> Anyone who tells you otherwise on All-Star weekend is selling you a flyer. What Phoenix does have is one club that is unmistakably the urban room, and a state law that splits the clubs into two kinds. Know both before you spend.<\/p>

          How Arizona works:<\/strong> fully nude rooms generally serve no alcohol and admit 18+. Topless rooms hold a liquor license and are 21+. A couple of clubs run both formats under one roof. Decide which night you want before you pick the room.<\/p>

          • Jaguars Club<\/strong> — 1902 N. Black Canyon Hwy. The urban room, full stop. Nude entertainment with a full bar (no alcohol after 2am), six stages, hookah, kitchen open until close. “R&B and Chill” every Monday<\/strong>, Ladies Night Wednesdays. Open to 4am Friday and Saturday<\/strong>. Named Best Strip Club by Phoenix New Times in 2024, which noted the rap and pro-athlete crowd. Dress code is enforced. Not Black-owned — but this is the Black-crowd club. (602) 352-0240<\/li>
          • Le Girls<\/strong> — 5151 E. Washington St. Thirty years in, and the clearest example of the two-format split: a fully nude showroom (no alcohol, 18+) and a topless showroom with a full bar (21+) under one roof. Around 50 dancers a night across seven stages, 3pm–4am daily. (602) 244-8000<\/li>
          • Dream Palace Cabaret<\/strong> — 815 N. Scottsdale Rd., Tempe. Fully nude, 18+, and open until 8am<\/strong> — the only real after-hours room in the area. If your All-Star night doesn’t end when the clubs close, this is where it goes. (480) 921-8870<\/li>
          • Sugar 44 Cabaret<\/strong> — 4420 E. Thomas Rd. Topless with a full bar, small neighborhood room, no cover before 7pm. Mon–Fri from noon, weekends from 1pm, close at 2am.<\/li>
          • Bandaids Show Lounge<\/strong> — 2548 N. 7th St. Full bar, open 10am–2am daily, heavy on sports — NFL, Suns, PPV fights. Free cover Sunday and Monday.<\/li>
          • Sonny’s<\/strong> — 19011 S. Arizona Ave., Chandler. Topless, forty years in business, VIP room by the hour, daily to 2am. (480) 963-6632<\/li>

            This is where Black Phoenix is deepest. There are dozens of Black-owned trucks and mobile kitchens in the Valley, and most of them post their week’s locations on Instagram — so follow the ones you want before you land, because on All-Star weekend they will be parked wherever the crowd is.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

                    Two warnings before you book anything. First, “black car service” is an industry term for a livery sedan — it says nothing about who owns the company.<\/strong> Half the Phoenix results with “Black” in the name are white-owned. Second, verified Black-owned transportation in this market is thin, so book early — All-Star weekend will clean out the fleets.<\/p>

                      Here’s the honest picture. There is no Black-owned hotel inside the city limits of Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe or Mesa.<\/strong> The Black-owned hotel rooms in this metro are on the West Valley edge, and they are worth the drive if putting your money in Black hands matters to you.<\/p>

                      Phoenix’s most famous Black-owned lodging, the Swindall Tourist Inn<\/strong> at 1021 E. Washington St. — the Green Book house that took in Black travelers during segregation — is still standing, but it’s a business incubator now, not a hotel. Go see it anyway.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

About 20–25 minutes from the downtown arena and right by Westgate. This is the single most All-Star-usable Black-owned hotel in the metro.<\/li>
                      • Comfort Suites Goodyear<\/strong>, 15575 W. Roosevelt St., Goodyear. 84 rooms, same ownership. Cheaper base rates, about 35–40 minutes out.<\/li>
                      • Homewood Suites by Hilton Phoenix – Metro Center<\/strong>, 2536 W. Beryl Ave. Developed by Capstone Development, founded by Norman K. Jenkins, and about 10 minutes north of downtown. Worth noting that Capstone’s own site now files it under a historical portfolio, so confirm current ownership if that’s your deciding factor.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

                          Phoenix has done this before. During Super Bowl LVII in February 2023, metro hotels hit $538 average nightly rate at 87% occupancy<\/strong>, with 22 hotels over $1,000 on the Saturday. Short-term rentals ran roughly four times a normal February weekend, averaging around $1,000 a night<\/strong> in prime locations.<\/p>

                          Two things make February 2027 worse: February is already Phoenix’s peak season, and Cactus League spring training is expected to start February 19–20<\/strong> — the same weekend, pulling on the same rooms across Scottsdale, Mesa, Glendale and Tempe. Book by mid-2026, take the refundable rate, and if you book a private rental, confirm the host holds a City of Phoenix short-term rental license.                           Before You Leave: Black Phoenix Beyond The Party<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

                          All-Star weekend ends three days before Black History Month does. Most of the Black history in this city sits within a mile east of the arena — walking distance, or one light rail stop.<\/p>

                          • Eastlake Park<\/strong> — 1549 E. Jefferson St. Phoenix’s oldest park and, for over a century, the center of African American life in this city. Booker T. Washington spoke here in 1911. Still where the MLK Day and Juneteenth celebrations happen.<\/li>
                          • George Washington Carver Museum & Cultural Center<\/strong> — 415 E. Grant St. Opened in 1926 as the segregated Phoenix Union Colored High School. Heads up: hours are Mon–Thu 9am–2pm and Fri 9am–noon<\/strong>, so it is closed on All-Star Saturday and Sunday. Call (602) 675-4755 about special weekend hours.<\/li>
                          • Historic Tanner Chapel A.M.E. Church<\/strong> — 20 S. 8th St. Arizona’s oldest African American congregation; Dr. King spoke here in 1964. Sunday worship at 10am — yes, on All-Star Sunday.<\/li>
                          • Black Theatre Troupe \/ Helen K. Mason Performing Arts Center<\/strong> — 1333 E. Washington St. Founded in 1970, two blocks from Eastlake Park, still running a full season.<\/li>
                          • Swindall Tourist Inn<\/strong> — 1021 E. Washington St. The only remaining segregation-era hotel that served Black travelers in Phoenix.<\/li>
                          • First Institutional Baptist Church<\/strong> (1141 E. Jefferson St., 1910) and Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church<\/strong> (1401 E. Jefferson St., 1930) — both still active.<\/li><\/ul>

                            And two organizations worth knowing while you’re here: the Black Chamber of Arizona<\/strong> (blackchamberaz.org), founded in 1995, and The Arizona Informant<\/strong> (azinformant.org), the state’s only African American-owned weekly newspaper, founded in 1971 by Cloves C.
