It began as an all-boys school. Its teams were the <strong>Tarpons<\/strong>, competing in blue and silver, and the school captured a football championship in the 1970s.<br><br>Fortier closed in 2006, and its historic building on Freret Street reopened as the secondary campus of Lusher Charter School.
